As a company deeply entrenched in the Ottawa community, Osgoode Properties proudly supports an array of local organizations whose aim is to give back. From our Employee Giving Program to the Homegrown Hero Contest with CHEO, we strive to help our neighbours in any way we can!

Last month, the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees Women’s Rugby Team hosted their first-ever golf tournament, and we were absolutely delighted to sponsor this fundraiser! The Tournament took place on August 22nd at the Tecumseh Golf Club, and all funds raised will go towards growing and sustaining support for the student-athletes, the program, and its many initiatives.

Some fun facts about the team?

The Gee-Gees Women’s Rugby Team are 6-time back-to-back winners of the RSEQ, and they won gold at the nationals in 2017 and bronze in 2018 and 2019. The program is also the most diverse rugby program in the country, with 33% of its current roster being Black, Indigenous, or women of colour.

What’s our connection?

Jessica Greenberg, VP of Asset Management at Osgoode Properties, is a former player and an active mentor to its current members. In Spring 2021, the team launched a mentorship program to promote leadership development and connect the Gee-Gees to a wide variety of professional women in industry.

Jessica was one of the 12 mentors who piloted the program, which involved bi-weekly virtual workshops with a small group of Gee-Gees. These sessions were held for several months throughout the spring and summer, each touching on a different aspect of the female experience within the professional world.

To further our contribution to the mentorship program, we hired one of the Gee-Gees as a rental agent for the summer. As part of the position, she helped support the day-to-day operations of the site through leasing and property management admin support. Giving these students a chance to participate in the local workforce is one way we can give back to the community and help mould future leaders.
